The Run of the Black-Eyed Analysts has been marred by an abundance of comity! In Leg 2, no Player Hater bonus was possible, and yet only one Analyst could eke out a Trifecta…Meh!

With the only Trifecta of Leg 2, Woody (9 points) surges into first place. She edges out Atwork (9 points) in second place by a head (1 Correct Home Team Pick).

In third place, B-Reezy (6 points, 1 Correct Home Team Pick) noses out The Strategist (6 points, 1 Correct Home Team Pick) by virtue of da Bears’ 2.0 forced turnovers per game (tpg) vs. the Chiefs’ 1.0 tpg.

In a crowded midfield for fifth place at 3 points each, Jimmy V, Craft Brew, Roxy Trot, Sponge Mom, Wise Orangutan and KateTDid jockey for the open rail. KateTDid has the advantage with 2 Correct Home Team Picks.

Heading into the near turn, a few Analysts can’t seem to gin up the animosity necessary to Win. At 0 points each, The Bookie, Big Tuna and Little Tuna misplace their hate in first two Legs of the Player Haters Preakness.

An amicable (and therefore unpleasant) start to the seventh running of the Black-Eyed Analysts! Only a handful of Analysts went for the sucker punch that separates leaders from also-rans out of the gates–and fewer earned a *base* Trifecta!

B-Reezy (6 points, 1 Correct Home Team Pick) jumps out of the gates for the early lead by a nose over Atwork (6 points, 0 Correct Home Team Picks).

In a contest for third place at 3 points each, Woody by virtue of 1 Correct Home Team Pick edges out Wise Orangutan in fourth (2 forced turnovers) and The Strategist in fifth place (1 forced turnover).

Over half of the field struggles on the heavy track and net 0 Trifecta points around the clubhouse turn. KateTDid has sixth place with 1 Correct Home Team Pick, while Jimmy V, Craft Brew, Roxy Trot, Sponge Mom, The Bookie, Big Tuna and Little Tuna are separated by the hairs of their horses’ nostrils [forced turnovers per game] from seventh to last place (not in the order mentioned above).

The back stretch of the Marathon of the Ass is proving to be a heavy track. Only three Trifectas in two weeks from our field of thirteen Analysts. After 6 weeks, the Trifecta rate (Total Trifectas divided by Possible Trifectas) has fallen to 42% — the WFTL average over the first six seasons! The more things change…

Jimmy V leads by a length with 4 Trifectas and 15 Correct Picks, the only Analyst with Trifecta rate at above 50%.

Within striking distance of the lead with 3 Trifectas and (also) 15 Correct Picks, Atwork and The Strategist give no ground to the front runner, sharing second place.

At 3 Trifectas and 14 Correct Picks, Craft Brew moves up into a tie for fourth place with B-Reezy and Wise Orangutan. Big Tuna slips into seventh place at 3 Trifectas and 13 Correct Picks..

In a tie for eighth place, Sponge Mom and KateTDid gain some separation from the back of the field with 2 Trifectas and 13 Correct Picks (+2) in Week 6. Woody gallops from the back of the field to take tenth place alone with 2 Trifectas and 12 Correct Picks.

The Bookie and Little Tuna struggle to add to their Correct Pick totals, falling down the board into a tie for eleventh place 2 Trifectas and 11 Correct Picks. Roxy Trot (1 Trifecta and 10 Correct Picks) closes some of the Correct Pick deficit, but trails in thirteenth position!

Coming around the clubhouse turn of the Marathon of the Ass, the field begins to separate!

With a record-breaking four Trifectas to start a season, Jimmy V holds onto first place by a length over a gaggle of contenders. He maintains a one length lead over his closest challengers. His path to victory is not yet clear, however, as…

Former Analysts of the Year, Big Tuna and The Strategist, three-time Winner’s Circle stalwart, Craft Brew, and the perennial also-ran, Wise Orangutan, trail in a tie for second place with 3 Trifectas and 11 Correct Picks. One step by Jimmy V and any of these four can close the distance for the lead.

Analyst-in-spirit Sir Dog (RIP) rolled over in his grave when Atwork made an un-Bearable Pick in Week 4 (faintly from underground: “What kind of Packers fan are you!”).

Defending Analyst of the Year Atwork falls into a tie for sixth place with B-Reezy, Sponge Mom, The Bookie, KateTDid, and Little Tuna — each at 2 Trifectas and 10 Correct Picks.

With three Trifectas in three weeks, we have our first front runner of the season! Jimmy V moves one length ahead of his closest challengers in the past week.

Much of the field is bunched up with 2 Trifectas and 8 Correct Picks. Atwork, Craft Brew, B-Reezy, The Bookie, Big Tuna, The Strategist, Wise Orangutan, and KateTDid vie for second place.

Roxy Trot, Sponge Mom, Little Tuna and Woody trail with 1 Trifecta each, with unexpected poor starts by Home Teams (1-2 records) and player injuries (SF) and best-days-behind-me-ism (TB) largely to blame…[Double entendre: note that TB can mean Tom Brady or Tampa Bay. Ha ha!!!]

With offense bonus points in three straight legs, Atwork (39 points) builds an insurmountable lead down the home stretch! He leads his closest challengers by 19 points–two more points than any Analyst can earn in a single week (17).

All other Analysts remain in contention for Place ($) and Show.

Big Tuna and Jimmy V (both 20 points) currently share second place, with Big Tuna holding the edge with an 11.7 point differential per game (pdpg) by the Ravens vs. 7.0 pdpg by the Patriots. B-Reezy controls fourth place with 19 points.

At 18 points, Craft Brew, The Bookie, and KateTDid remain in strong position. All three have 3 Correct Home Team Picks and are separated only by pdpg (in order of mentions) for fifth, sixth, and seventh places.

At 17 points, The Strategist, Little Tuna, and Wise Orangutan seek a path out of eighth, ninth, and tenth place. These three Analysts each have 2 Correct Home Team Picks, and are separated (again) by pdpg in the order listed.

Roxy Trot holds eleventh place with 16 points, trailed by Sponge Mom (13) in twelfth and Woody (10) bringing up the rear. All three can come from the back of the field to take second place with 11 or more points in the final Leg!

Atwork (28 points) continues to run at a break neck speed down the far strectch! With two *base* Trifectas, two *extra* points, and two best Home Team Offense bonuses, he hits the near turn with a 11 point lead.

His nearest competitors, Big Tuna (17 points) runs in second place with a *base* Trifecta and *extra* point in the second Leg, while The Strategist doubles her effort (14 points) to take sole possession of third place.

With 13 points each, Roxy Trot in fourth place outpaces B-Reezy in fifth place and Jimmy V in sixth place, based on third tiebreaker (point differential per game): 7.0 vs. 4.0 vs. 2.5.

Craft Brew, The Bookie, and KateTDid contend for seventh place. All three have 2 Home Team Correct Picks, so only point differential per game (7.5, 6.5, and 2.5) separates them in that order. 

Sponge Mom falls into tenth place, just ahead of Wise Orangutan with 10 points. Both are trailed by Little Tuna and Woody (7 points each) at the back of the field.

Two weeks into the new season and all but four Analysts have a busted Trifecta!

Atwork, Jimmy V, Big Tuna and The Strategist lead with perfect 2-0 records. Will any tie last year’s opening pace of three Trifectas in a row???

All but one Analyst trail with a 1 Trifecta. A big group are bunched up at 5 Correct Picks each , with Woody trailing by a head with 4 Correct Picks.

Little Tuna brings up the rear, struggling to determine when it’s best to Pick the Brady-neers or the Beli-triots.

Atwork and Jimmy V put the Analysts on notice that the sixth season of Analyst of the Year was no fluke!

To start Season VII, the top two Analysts are joined by Sponge Mom, Big Tuna, and The Strategist as the Analysts to start Season VII with a Trifecta. 

Seven Analysts sputter out of the gates with 2 Correct Picks in a tie for sixth place, while Woody trails after her Cowboys spit the McCarthy bit on a questionable fourth down decision. 

As the Analysts enter the near turn, nine Claimed winners to begin the year, three had competitors in the opening stretch, and only one Analyst stained his good (ok, mediocre) reputation with a glue mule.

Atwork (14 points) sprints out of the gates and takes an early lead around the clubhouse turn! With a *base* Trifecta, *extra* point, and the best Home Team Offense (scored 43), he hits the backstretch with a 4 point lead.

Big Tuna (10 points) chases in second place with a *base* Trifecta, *extra* point, and best Home Team Defense (allowed 6) round the first turn. 

With 7 points each, Jimmy V, Sponge Mom, and The Strategist contest third place. On third tiebreaker (point differential per game), the Strategist (14 point differential) edges out Sponge Mom (11 point differential) in fourth and Jimmy V in fifth place. 

Craft Brew, The Bookie, and KateTDid compete for sixth place. Again separated only by third tiebreaker, Craft Brew (10) and The Bookie (10) are in a dead heat for sixth, while KateDid (2) trails in eighth place.

Four Analysts seek to separate from the back of the field with 3 points each. B-Reezy holds ninth place with +4 point differential, Roxy Trot ekes out tenth place with a -4 point differential over Little Tuna in eleventh with -11 point differential. Wise Orangutan trails in twelfth with -32 point differential after Leg 1. Woody (0 points) struggles to clear the gates in Leg 1.
