The Analysts have submitted their papers and claimed their Home Teams to start the new season. The Claim Box for PC-Fecta Derby IX is:
PC-Fecta Derby IX | Entrants | Claims
Slate of Games
PC-Fecta Derby IX | Slate of Games
Home Teams owned by an Analyst are in bold. The team at the left is the visiting team; the team at the right is the host (playing at home). There are many featured games: three Thursday nights (TNF), all four Sunday nights (SNF), and four Monday nights (MNF).
None of the Home Teams are on a bye-week during PC-Fecta Derby IX!
Picks
Remember: Every Analyst has a bias for his or her Home Team and may NOT pick their Claimed team to lose. Analysts do not have to pick his or her Home Team to win, but *bonus* trifecta points are won only if Analysts include the Home Team in a *base* or *lame* Trifecta. Analysts must Pick Three games from the official Slate of Games. See the Derby Rules for more.
Email picks in private to The Bookie before each Leg (week) of the Race. Thursday games are due by 4pm EST on Thursdays (flexible per The Bookie’s time in special circumstances). All Sunday and Monday Picks are due on Saturdays at 5pm EST. No Picks for games after kickoffs are accepted.
No revisions (Re-Picks) are possible after the Picks have been released to all Analysts by The Bookie.
Season IX appears to have emerged from the cloud of uncertainty due to the COVID-19 pandemic. No special rules for canceled games or convalescing Home Teams are enacted. There are however established procedures for Picks. We will remind the Analysts of the Picks procedures in a later post.
Season IX | Starting Home Team Claims
We are up to a whopping 17 Analysts in Seasons IX!
A reminder that the order of the Standings during Season IX reflects the final rankings for Analyst of the Year VIII for the fourteen returning Analysts.
Boo, Bug Bug, and Wreck It Ralph are first-time entrants
The General Rules for the World Football Trifecta League remain the same as Season VIII. Analysts must relinquish Claims to Home Teams to start the season and the Analysts Claim new Home Teams in reverse of the Standings for the prior season’s Analyst of the Year. New Analysts select first as determined by random order.
No Analysts went to pasture and three new Analysts join the WFTL for 2022-23 season. The Claims Order for the 17 Analysts is then:

Which Analyst will add his or her Thoroughbred’s name to the most illustrious trophy in sports analysis at the end of the year?
With an extraordinary performance wire-to-wire, the Eighth Running of the Super Trifecta Bowl goes to…
Sponge Mom! With 29 points total, Sponge Mom crushes her nearest competitor by 7 points. She earned 15 *Base* Trifecta Points (8 of 9 Correct Picks), six more points (2 Correct Picks) better than the rest of the field. She jockeyed her steed, #4 seed Rams, to 6 Playoff Victory Points and 4 Reverse PC-Fecta Points. Her lead headed into TGWSNBN was sealed by 4 Seeder Redux Points from upsets by the Rams and Bengals in the Divisional Round!
Headed into the Conference Championships, The Strategist had built a strong lead of 22 points. She had 9 *Base* Trifecta Points and 5 Playoff Victory + Reverse PC-Fecta Points from her Home Team 49ers. Upsets by the 49ers had also earned her 8 Seeder Redux Points. But, her 49ers failed to carry her to victory and she missed both Picks in the Conference Championship Round. Nonetheless, she coasts to Place on the strength of her first two Rounds.
Woody was looking like a long shot to start the Conference Championship Round at 16 points and her Home Team Bengals headed to Kansas City to face the defending AFC Championships. She stormed into 3rd place before TGWSNBN and looked like a potential champion at the start of the fourth quarter in the final game of the season. But, her offensive line could not hold back the stable of HoFers on the Rams’ defensive line, and she stalled at Show — the spot in the Winner’s Circle with no Purse!
KateTDid (19 points) takes fourth place on tiebreakers (Playoff Victory Points) over Roxy Trot (19 points), salting the wound that her Chiefs put on Roxy’s Bills! Both Analysts are counting the birds in the bush after their Home Teams suffered losses on the final plays of their respective games after otherwise stellar races by their steeds.
Defending Champion, Big Tuna, closes with 16 points. He again had an extraordinary run of upset picks and netted the most Seeder Redux Points (10) in the Super Trifecta Bowl. But, his dark horses never paid off in *Base* Trifecta Points has he netted only 6 points total. He was not helped by his disappointing steed, the Packers, when they packed up early for the off-season — soon before his QB recommitted to an endless bachelor life!
The rest of the field did not have a shot after the Divisional Round. Read the numbers and weep. There is always next year!!!
Jimmy V extends his new record for Trifectas in a season (12) and sets a new record for Correct Picks (44) in a single season! He is our Season VIII Analyst of the Year! He beats his nearest competitor by 3 full Trifectas!!!
In the final stretch, Mo Money gave Sponge Mom a run for Place. The Patriots spit the bit, however, and Sponge Mom (9 Trifectas and 43 Correct Picks) holds on to Place! Mo Money (9 Trifectas and 39 Correct Picks) in her first season finishes in the Winner’s Circle with a Show.
Roxy Trot quietly finished with a strong season! She had 8 Trifectas and 40 Correct Picks to take sole possession of fourth place. Woody (7 Trifectas and 40 Correct Picks) ends in fifth place, nosing out B-Reezy (7 Trifectas and 38 Correct Picks) in sixth place. With a record four straight seasons in the top half of the field, Craft Brew (6 Trifectas and 38 Correct Picks) somehow emerges from the back of the field to take 7th position!
He edged out Little Tuna (6 Trifectas and 36 Correct Picks) who leads the back of the field in eighth place. The Strategist and Big Tuna (both 5 Trifectas and 37 Correct Picks) end in a tie for ninth place.
That leaves the race to the bottom of the field and the opportunity to become the Analysts with no Claim in the Super Trifecta Bowl!!!
All four of the remaining Analysts fought to the very end to become Analysts with No Claim as none earned a 4th Trifecta in the final week. KateTDid (37 Correct Picks) and Wise Orangutan makes a move (35 Correct Picks) squeeze out eleventh and twelfth place — both have a Claim in STB VIII! Bookie (33 Correct Picks) and Atwork (32 Correct Picks) head to the post-season without a steed, but comfort in the knowledge that they Claim first to start Season IX!

Entering the Home Stretch, Sponge Mom had 32 points and a 4 point lead over the closest competition. She used strategery to Box Out the field by taking both the Titans and Chiefs to Win. The Patriots and Rams lost, however, and Little Tuna aimed to sneak past with a Cardinals Win…Could the Cardiac Cards foil Sponge Mom’s second chance at a Win this season…..
NO!
Sponge Mom (42 Trifecta Points) ekes out the Win! — Her first Seeders’ Cup! Little Tuna (38 Trifecta Points) sprinted around the final three Legs to claim Place. She edges out Roxy Trot (35 Trifecta Points) in Show after she played for the Chiefs to clinch the #1 AFC Seed.
Boxed Out by Roxy Trot, Craft Brew (34 Trifecta Points) surges into fourth place. B-Reezy and Woody (33 Trifecta Points each) finish in fifth and sixth place, respectively, with B-Reezy nosing her out by virtue of 1 Correct Home Team Pick. Jimmy V (32 Trifecta Points) rounds out the top half of the field.
The rest of the field finishes in the following order: Big Tuna (28 Trifecta Points, 1st Tiebreaker), Wise Orangutan (28 Trifecta Points), KateTDid (25 Trifecta Points), The Strategist (24 Trifecta Points), Bookie (20 Trifecta Points), Mo Money (19 Trifecta Points) and Atwork (13 Trifecta Points).
