The Player Haters Preakness looks to be challenging this year as the Slate of Games narrows from 11 Games in Leg 1, to 9 Games in Legs 2 and 3, and then only 8 games in Leg 4. Due to head-to- head competition and bye weeks for Home Teams, games with un-Claimed teams eligible for Player Haters *bonuses* are more limited!

Leg 1 features a head-to-head between Atwork and Little Tuna, as well as KateTDid and Wise Orangutan. Leg 2 pits Sponge Mom against Jimmy V. Leg 3 has Wise Orangutan versus Atwork, Big Tuna versus KateTDid, and Woody versus Little Tuna. Leg 4 has B-Reezy against KateTDid, Woody against The Bookie, The Strategist against Sponge Mom, and Atwork against Craft Brew. Head-to-head games are not eligible for Player Haters bonuses because both teams are Claimed.

Every Player Hater team lost this week, and the only Analysts to get Trifectas were those who played the long game.

Big Tuna! In his first win since Season I in his otherwise illustrious career, Big Tuna jumped to an early lead and paced his way to the finish line with 3 Trifectas in the month. He wins Player Haters Preakness V!

For the Preakness, Craft Brew Claimed a solid thoroughbred and ran a steady race to Place after earning 3 Trifectas and 3 points total.

The Strategist, Wise Orangutan and Roxy Trot finished the Preakness with 2 points each. The Strategist shows with a head-to-head tiebreaker over Roxy Trot and more Correct Home Picks over Wise O. Roxy Trot (2 Correct Home Team Picks) finishes just out of the Winner’s Circle in fourth over Wise O. (1 Correct Home Team Pick).

B-Reezy, Little Tuna, Sponge Mom and Jimmy V end the Preakness with 1 Trifecta point. Into the homestretch, Big Tuna has a two length lead over Craft Brew and Wise Orangutan. Analysts with 1 Trifecta point can catch Big with a perfect Player Haters Trifecta. Analysts with 0 points are not able to catch Big Tuna.

Scenarios

For the Win:

Big Tuna will eliminate all Analysts with a 2 point Trifecta (two Player Haters). A 1 point Trifecta eliminates all but Craft Brew and Wise Orangutan. He can also strengthen his position against most Analysts with a Correct Home Team Pick.

With 3 Correct Home Team Picks, Craft Brew is in position to best Big Tuna if he can tie Big Tuna at 4 or 5 points. Most Analysts will need Craft Brew to falter in the homestretch to clinch the Win.

Wise O. can force a photo finish on tiebreakers with a 2-point Trifecta. The Strategist, Roxy Trot, and B-Reezy will need to play for a Perfect Player Haters Trifecta to Win.

For the Place:

All Analysts are still in contention to place if no Analysts tie Big Tuna on points, but most Analysts must avoid a tiebreaker with Craft Brew. If Craft Brew earns points, then he strengthens his position. If Big Tuna holds onto his lead (and does not fall to second place) and Craft Brew falters, then:

The two exceptions are 1) Atwork whose Home Team can beat Craft Brew’s in a head-to-head competition this week so he only needs a 2-point Trifecta with a Packers victory and 2) The Strategist who can play for a tie with Craft Brew if she earns one more Correct Home Team Pick with the Panthers and Craft Brew does not.

Around the far turn, Big Tuna (4 Trifecta points) solidifies his position with a two length lead over his closest contenders and an insurmountable 4 length lead over the five Analysts with no Trifecta points in the Trifecta.

On a steady pace in the past two legs, Craft Brew adds a second (2) Trifecta point and moves into second place over Wise Orangutan (2 Trifecta points) in third by virtue of the first tiebreaker (Home Team head-to-head win). Craft Brew also has 3 Correct Home Team Picks, the most of any Analyst in the Preakness, a secure position to defend Place during the final Leg.
