Slate of Games

Player Haters Preakness III | Slate of Games
Slate of Games for the Player Haters Preakness III

The slate of games for the Player Haters Preakness III may prove to be a brutal test of Analyst’s acumen. With only 2 head-to-head competitions this month (first tiebreaker), most Analysts will have to win the Run of the Black-Eyed Analysts with wits alone.

In Leg 1, Wise Orangutan travels to face Big Tuna. Leg 4 pits the young stallions, B-Reezy and Atwork, against one another. layer Hater Bonus Points may not be earned from the two head-to-head Analyst match-ups.

Leg 3 may prove to be the difference as 5 of 7 Analysts’ Home Teams go on the road against notable challengers (one team on a bye week). In Leg 4, two teams go on bye weeks and limit the available choices to FIVE games total — a photo finish in the making!

Home teams owned by an Analyst are in bold. The team at the left is the visiting team; the team at the right is the host (playing at home). There are a handful of featured games: two Thursday nights, two Sunday nights, and one Monday games.

In total, five Home Teams enjoy a bye week during the Preakness.

Picks

Remember: Every Analyst has a bias for his or her Home Team and may not pick the sponsored team to lose. Analysts do not have to pick his or her Home Team to win a trifecta. *Bonus* trifecta points are earned for picking against other Analysts’ Home Teams in a winning trifecta. See the Preakness Rules for more.

Email three picks to The Bookie before each leg (week) of the Race. The first picks are due on Saturday, October 8.

Analyst of the Year III

Coming out of the first turn in the annual contest for analytical bragging rights, Kal Krome, B-Reezy, and Atwork gallop into the lead with 2 Trifectas each. Kal (10 Correct Picks) holds a one head lead over B-Reezy and Atwork (9 Correct Picks) at the quarter mark.

The Strategist, Big Tuna, and Wise Orangutan continue to run neck and neck with 1 Trifecta each. The Strategist holds the inside rail for fourth place with 9 Correct Picks (vs. 8 Correct Picks for the fifth-place challengers).

The Bookie (6 Correct Picks) edges Little Tuna (5 Correct Picks) for seventh place in the Annual competition.

Minds Blank has been scratched from the Annual competition. A whistle blower informed The Clearinghouse that the first-ever Analyst of the Year has been conferring with all-powerful beings to gain an insight into future events following her disappointing second season in the World Football Trifecta League. Guido has been dispatched to ensure the integrity of the races and to work with local authorities to monitor the use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) by the disgraced Analyst of the Pacific Northwest.

PC-Fecta Derby, 2016-17

Final Standings

At the finish, Kal Krome (5 trifecta points) holds off a late threat from The Strategist (4 trifecta points) to win the 2016-17 PC-Fecta Derby! Kal Krome earns his second Quaternary Crown and signals to the other Analysts that the Hawks are not to be trifled with this year — despite falling to the lowly first-place Rams!

Atwork (3 trifecta points) edges past Big Tuna (3 trifecta points) to take 3rd place based on the third tiebreaker: point differentials by the Home Team (9.3 vs. 0.5). The Vikings and Raiders look capable of sacking other Analysts in the coming months.

In fifth with two trifectas, B-Reezy whips his gimpy Bears around the final turn to upset the listless cavalry sponsored by Wise Orangutan (1 trifecta point) .

In seventh, Little Tuna (0 trifecta points) purrs just ahead of The Bookie’s fishy horse (0 trifecta points) based on the third tiebreaker (point differentials, -2.3 > -4.5).

Minds Blank’s trifecta points are under review after submitting Leg 4 picks through unofficial channels. Guido is headed to Washington to investigate what insiders are calling, L’affaire des brownies. Minds Blank is a scratch until further notice.

The Analysts picks are in:

The Bookie: Seahawks/Cardinals/Chargers
Big Tuna: Raiders/Cardinals/Bengals
LittleTuna: Cardinals /Giants/Bengals
Wise Orangutan: Chargers/Ravens/Bengals
The Strategist: Rams/Vikings/Chargers
Kal Krome: Seahawks/Cardinals/Saints
B-Reezy: Raiders/Seahawks/Vikings
Atwork: Vikings/Panthers/Seahawks

Race Day Notes:

Each week the Bookie will interview one analysts. This week the Bookie interviewed the Big Tuna. I was welcomed into his home by his lovely wife Little Tuna. She said he’d see me in his man cave where he prepares by watching ESPN before the race. I asked him how he felt about seeing the finish line with two horses in front of him and another beside him and 2 horses coming up from the rear, I said you must be nervous being in the middle of this pack?

Big Tuna leaned back in his recliner, took a swig of some foul looking green liquid from his glass and said, “Give up, y’all. There is no point trying. This was named in my honor after all.🐷”
So there you have it. Big Tuna predicts a repeat of PC-FECTA Derby I.

The Results Are In!

The Bookie: Seahawks/Cardinals/Chargers
Big Tuna: Raiders/Cardinals/Bengals
Little Tuna: Cardinals /Giants/Bengals
Wise Orangutan: Chargers/Ravens/Bengals
The Strategist: Rams/Vikings/Chargers
Kal Krome: Seahawks/Cardinals/Saints
B-Reezy: Raiders/Seahawks/Vikings (1 point)
Atwork: Vikings/Panthers/Seahawks

In the final stretch, B-Reezy un-bears down for the sole trifecta for 1 point.

The Strategist, Kal Krome, and Atwork eat B-Reezy’s dust with only two Correct Picks, while The Bookie, Big Tuna, Little Tuna, and Wise Orangutan limp across the finish line with a single Correct Pick.

PC-Fecta Derby III

Trifecta Points

Kal Krome (5 points) spurs his team around the third turn to secure the lead from The Strategist (4 points). In third, Atwork (3 points) noses ahead of Big Tuna (3 points) based on the scores of his stallion (third tiebreaker). Heading into the fourth turn, these four Analysts are poised to take the third — and most competitive – Derby in WFTL history.

In fifth, Wise Orangutan (1 point) clings to one head lead over B-Reezy (1 point) by virtue of correctly picking his Home Team once (second tiebreaker).

Minds Blank, Little Tuna, and The Bookie trot toward a last place finish. See the pick results.

Tiebreakers

Headed into Leg 4, The Strategist holds an important tiebreaker over Kal Krome should they finish with the same trifecta points. Atwork holds tiebreakers over Minds Blank and Little Tuna, however, both have already been eliminated. Kal Krome, Atwork, and Big Tuna have the advantage for selecting Home Teams correctly (twice), while Wise Orangutan remains pie-eyed with an unlikely comeback based on the game scores by their horses. B-Reezy’s Derby dreams broke under the unBearable weight of winning a professional football game.

The Analysts picks are in:

The Bookie: Dolphins/Packers/Panthers
Big Tuna: Raiders/Cowboys/Panthers
LittleTuna: Panthers/Colts/Titans
Wise Orangutan: Chargers/Dolphins/Cowboys
The Strategist: Packers/Panthers/Seahawks
Kal Krome: Seahawks/Cowboys/Packers
Minds Blank: Packers/49ers/Panthers
B-Reezy: Seahawks/Dolphins/Panthers
Atwork: Vikings/Packers/Rams

Race Day Notes:

Each week the Bookie will interview one analysts. This week the Bookie interviewed the Strategist at her high rise apartment in Chicago. When asked how she felt about last weeks results, She humbly applied how surprise she was to have taken the lead so early in the race. She continued (and I quote) by saying “I have a solid chance of beating the Orangutan”. This being a personal goal, she added this prediction “The Wise Orangutan will be the big loser this year!”

We might see a little slipstreaming action with the Little Tuna and The Strategist together to give this Orangutan a Charlie horse.

The Results Are In!

Around the third turn, Atwork’s horse sense blitzes the competition, knocking out five Analysts with Viking efficiency and securing the bonus trifecta point for best defense.

In a cagey performance, however, Kal Krome evades the Panther trap set by Atwork and rounds the third turn on a 37-point offensive gallop by the Seahawks.

Wise Orangutan is crushed by his un-super Chargers and joins the Panther-bitten Analysts around the third turn.

The Bookie: Dolphins/Packers/Panthers
Big Tuna: Raiders/Cowboys/Panthers
LittleTuna: Panthers/Colts/Titans
Wise Orangutan: Chargers/Dolphins/Cowboys
The Strategist: Packers/Panthers/Seahawks
Kal Krome: Seahawks/Cowboys/Packers (3 points)
Minds Blank: Packers/49ers/Panthers
B-Reezy: Seahawks/Dolphins/Panthers
Atwork: Vikings/Packers/Rams (2 points)

Top teams among trifecta winners:

Top offensive team (+2): Seahawks (37 points scored)

Top defensive team (+1): Vikings (10 points allowed)

Final scores.
